Custodian (NY HELPS) 
Approx. hours: 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm (Tuesday – Friday)
7:00 am – 3:00 pm (Saturday)
Recess hours:  7:00 am – 3:00 pm (Tuesday – Saturday)
Note:  Contingent based on holiday and building needs
Summer hours:  6:00 am – 4:00 pm (Monday – Thursday)
 
**The NY HELPS (Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Program Statewide) is a New York State program that allows civil service agencies to hire qualified permanent employees quickly and without requiring them to take a competitive civil service exam. It was created to help agencies fill critical vacancies by streamlining the appointment process, though candidates must still meet all other minimum qualifications for the job. 
 
 12-month positions receive paid holidays, sick & personal days, earn vacation time, are eligible for health and dental insurance and membership in the NYS Retirement System.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Teacher Aides are responsible for providing assistance to teachers in a non-teaching capacity to assist students with social/emotional and learning difficulties in all school settings. A Teacher Aide is responsible for modeling appropriate social skills, facilitating social interaction, assisting with classroom work and attending to student physical needs. Under the direction of the teacher, aides will perform routine classroom duties, including but not limited to:
  • Supervising and participating in activities to improve the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of children.
  • Assist children with the development of social skills.
  • Supporting the classroom teacher.

Overall, a Teacher Aide's roles and responsibilities are to help a student(s) with their learning, help with behavior management, and assist in light duties to help the classroom run smoothly.  As a Teacher Aide in West Seneca, you will primarily be working with students who have needs surrounding academics, social skills, and behavioral needs.

Per Diem Substitute Teacher positions are available for grades K-12 at a per diem rate of $150.00 p/day.
