Job Description

The West Seneca Central School District has an anticipated vacancy for a Director of Professional Learning.  The ideal candidate will provide visionary leadership in planning, implementing, and sustaining high-quality professional learning opportunities that elevate instructional practice, strengthen leadership capacity, and support student achievement.  This role ensures professional learning is strategically aligned with the West Seneca Strategic Plan and the District Comprehensive Improvement Plan (DCIP).

This is a full-time, 12-month administrative position with salary and benefits paid according to the West Seneca School Administrators' Association's collective bargaining agreement.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Professional Learning Leadership

  • Design and oversee a comprehensive, multi-year professional learning plan for all employee groups, including teachers, administrators, pupil services personnel, and support staff
  • Coordinate professional learning events such as Opening Day, District PD Days, New Teacher Academy, and mentoring programs
  • Partner with building leaders and instructional coaches to ensure job-embedded professional development and follow-up support
  • Serve as a liaison to Erie 1 BOCES and other regional partners to align and leverage resources, including CSLO and cross-direct learning opportunities

Program Development & Evaluation

  • Facilitate the Professional Development Committee and submit the annual PD Plan to NYSED
  • Ensure district compliance with CTLE requirements and maintain accurate records for all approved activities
  • Utilize multiple data sources (student outcomes, surveys, observations, etc.) to assess the impact of professional learning and inform continuous improvement

Event & Logistics Management

  • Coordinate venues, technology, materials, and scheduling for all district-wide professional learning events
  • Collaborate with the IT Department to ensure smooth technology integration during PD sessions

Mentorship & Induction

  • Oversee the district's mentoring program for new teachers, including mentor training, documentation, and evaluation
  • Provide targeted professional learning for early-career educators to accelerate effectiveness

Budget & Resource Management

  • Develop and manage the professional learning budget, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources
  • Identify, curate, and manage professional learning resources, including digital platforms, texts, and facilitators

Other

  • Stay current on trends, research, and best practices in professional learning and instructional leadership
  • Support and ensure required NYS and Federal compliance training and requirements are assigned and completed annually
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee
Job Qualifications
  • Valid New York State Certification as a School Building Administrator (SBA) or School Building Leader (SBL), with eligibility for School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) during the probationary period
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in the design and delivery of professional learning aligned to NYS standards and district priorities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of:
    • NYS APPR/STEPS
    • Adult learning theory and high-leverage instructional practices
    • Curriculum, instruction, assessment, and MTSS frameworks
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead and inspire staff
  • Proven experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating district-wide professional learning initiatives
  • Experience with budgeting, data-driven decision-making, and program evaluation
