Graduation from high school and completion of at least eight (8) credit hours in computer science or at least one (1) year of experience in computer operations.
This is a Civil Service competitive position and appointments will be made according to Civil Service Rules and Regulations.
Examples of Duties: A Computer Support Assistant provides first level support to assist the Technology Department staff in getting computer platforms in operating order for end-users; Demonstrates strong customer service skills and an ability to learn the essentials of hardware and software systems; Responds professionally to user support requests via phone, email, and the online ticketing system. Sets up computer hardware, displays, software and network connections in operational order; Installs and removes software into computer; Assists with data entry into computer software programs; Installs basic wiring and connectivity of computers; Assists with the creation of presentation materials utilizing appropriate software programs; Provides on-site equipment (peripherals, printers, and servers) support; Coordinates equipment requirements, repairs, maintenance.
