Reports to: Chief Microcomputer Technical Support Specialist and Senior Microcomputer Technical Support
Specialist
Key Duties & Responsibilities:

This MCDSS role is the lead support specialist for the district website and other software applications for communications, information, and access to district resources.
 
  • Develops, manages, and supports the district website via the CMS (FinalSite), including: ADA compliance, webpage copyright control, webpage development, website customization, website monitoring, problem isolation and mitigation, content integration, traffic monitoring and reporting
  • Supports end user training on the district website, including basic publishing, ADA compliance, and linking to external resources, such as calendars, publications, and other websites
  • Develops a basic knowledge of web programming languages to troubleshoot – i.e., HTML, JavaScript, CSS
  • Image editing and graphic design skills are a plus
  • Manages and supports the district mass communications system (School Messenger)
  • Develops, manages, and supports the Parent Portal experience (MyPowerHub)
  • Develops, manages, and supports the Student Portal experience (Clever)
  • Supports the district Student Information System (SIS) front-end for users (PowerSchool)
  • Develops, manages, and/or supports additional user applications as designated by their supervisor
  • Works with vendor and BOCES support representatives to address issues and apply updates
  • Provides technical support to end users of their portfolio of applications
  • Assigns permissions and access to users of their portfolio of applications
  • Develops and shares best-practices for users of their portfolio of applications
  • Participates in the collaborative development and continuous improvement of their portfolio of applications
  • Communicates to stakeholders regularly regarding application functionality, changes, and new features
  • Provides general helpdesk support for district technology services as needed
  • Utilizes a task management and ticketing system to queue and schedule work
  • Prepares, checks, and cleans up Excel data for exporting and importing for applications
  • Produces documentation for support and quality-of-service
  • Communicates effectively via verbal, written, and electronic means
  • Manages time effectively between projects, maintenance, and support requests
  • Takes initiative and responsibility for results and customer satisfaction
  • Supports the District Technology Department and related projects as assigned

 

 

 

 

Job Qualifications
  1. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four (4) year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of data processing experience in vendor supplied operating systems software programming and/or maintenance; or:
  2. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two (2) or four (4) year college or university with an Associate’s degree in Data Processing, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field, and three (3) years of data processing experience in vendor supplied operating systems software programming and/or maintenance; or:
  3. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of data processing experience, at least three (3) years of which involved computer programming with at least two (2) years in vendor supplied operating systems software programming and/or maintenance; or:
  4. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (a), (b) and (c).
