Job Description

The West Seneca Central School District is currently seeking a Remedial Reading Teacher substitute. 

This is a full-time, per-diem position effective immediately through a date to be determined. The position is for an individual certified to teach Remedial Reading. Orton Gillingham and/or Phonics First training is preferred.  

This position could extend to a long-term substitute appointment with salary and benefits paid according to the West Seneca Teachers Association collective bargaining agreement, commensurate and prorated to the appointment time frame. 

The candidate must be able to demonstrate planning and preparation, instructional skills; effective classroom management, and be motivated to engage in professional development as needed.  A background in fluency, vocabulary and strategic reading comprehension skills is a must with knowledge of the 9-12 Next Gen ELA standards.

 

 

Job Qualifications

Required Certification: Reading; Literacy Grades 5-12

Preferred Certification: ELA 7-12

 

Specialized Training	9-12 Next Gen ELA Standards Multi-Tiered Student Support Orton Gillingham and/or Phonics First (preferred) MAP Testing and Reports
Technology Literacy	iPad/Chromebook Experience Using Technology As An Instructional Tool Google Docs Google Apps for Education Promethean Boards and/or Smart Boards
