Hours are variable based on operational requirements.
The position is generally scheduled from 6:00 am – 2:00 pm
(Summer hours Monday-Thursday 6:00 am – 4:00 pm)
The Assistant Director of Facilities supports the Director of Facilities in the leadership and coordination of district-wide facilities operations, with a primary focus on maintenance, grounds, and building systems. This role provides senior-level oversight, technical leadership, and coordination for complex maintenance efforts across the District.
Key Responsibilities
The Assistant Director of Facilities provides oversight of maintenance and grounds operations and personnel through established supervisory structures, serving as the primary escalation point and lead for building systems, controls, and maintenance tracking systems. This role provides leadership on large-scale, complex, or system-driven maintenance initiatives and coordinates the planning and completion of repairs, projects, and preventative maintenance activities. Responsibilities include overseeing the use and ongoing implementation of maintenance management and work order systems; procuring and managing materials, tools, equipment, and supplies; and maintaining inventories of district-owned equipment and hardware.
The Assistant Director collaborates with custodial leadership to coordinate preventative maintenance and overall building readiness, conducts periodic site visits and inspections to review equipment and system performance, and works with district administrators and department leaders to plan and coordinate in-house facilities projects. The role supports the training and onboarding of maintenance and grounds personnel, provides leadership communication, coordination, and alignment for maintenance operations, prepares regular summaries and updates on maintenance activities and emerging issues, and serves as the acting departmental lead in the absence of the Director of Facilities to ensure continuity of operations and decision-making. Ongoing professional development is supported through participation in conferences, training sessions, and workshops related to facilities operations and industry best practices.
