Job Description

The position of Treasurer is an exempt position and is appointed annually by the Board of Education upon the
recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools.

REPORTS TO:  Board of Education DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist the Business Administrator in the daily supervision of accounting for all funds.
• Assist the Business Administrator in the preparation of the annual District budget.
• Assist the Business Administrator in the preparation of the quarterly and annual year-end
  reports.
• Assist the Business Administrator in the preparation of the short- and long-range District
  financial plans.
• Assist the Business Administrator in the monitoring of internal controls of the District financial
  systems.
• Process all banking transactions, including deposits, transfers, wire payments and ACH.
• Tracks grant expenditures, submits revenue requests, and prepares final expenditure reports for state
  and federal grants.
• Prepare monthly Treasurer Reports for presentation.
• Assist in maintaining accounts of the Special Aid Funds Projects.
• Monitor Capital Project expenses and assist in final cost reports.
• Assist in reconciling cash and investment accounts monthly.
• Assist in disbursement and receipts of various funds.
• Assist in the preparation of State and Federal Reports for filing.
• Preparing tax warrant, monitoring and reconciling tax collection between the county and district
  records.
• Document routines and procedures.
• Reconciles State Aid Payments.
• Reconciles self-funded health insurance transactions.
• Reconciles district credit card transactions.
• Prepares for and assists with annual audit functions.
• To perform such other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or Business Administrator.

Job Qualifications

• Working knowledge of computerized financial accounting software (the district currently uses
  WinCap software), spreadsheet applications and the Uniform System of Accounts as prescribed by
  the Office of the State Comptroller.
• A good knowledge of pertinent education and local finance laws, Commissioner's Regulations,
  General Accounting Standards Board (GASB) statements.
• A bachelor's degree with a major in finance, accounting, or related field OR associate degree
  with a major in finance, accounting, or related field OR demonstrated experience in school or
  other governmental accounting positions with supervisory capacity.

Preferential consideration will be given to individuals with abilities, skills, and efficiency that
exceed the minimum qualifications.
