School Psychologist - Anticipated

The West Seneca Central School District anticipates a vacancy for a School Psychologist.  This position is a full-time, probationary appointment with salary and benefits paid according to the West Seneca Teacher's Association collective bargaining agreement.  The assignment/location for this position will be determined upon the conclusion of the district's spring staffing reassignments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Promote wellness and resilience by reinforcing communication and social skills, problem-solving, support for mental health initiatives, character education, anger management, self-regulation, self-determination and optimism.

Serve as a consultant to Child Study Teams to provide pre-referral intervention alternatives.

Assist the school with implementation and management of the District's Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS).

Consult with parents of students about educational interventions and/or management strategies that can be utilized at home and at school that assist the child to reach his/her full potential.

Provide diagnostic services in the area of functional behavior assessment, intelligence, personality, sensory motor achievement and adaptive behavior to students with suspected exceptional educational needs.

Report test data and observations for students who have been referred to assist the IEP team in identifying various disabilities along with helping to determine the need for special education.

Promote school policies and practices that ensure the safety of all students by reducing school violence, bullying and harassment, and providing crisis support as needed.

Chairperson of the Committee on Special Education and Section 504.

Maintain communication with administrators, teachers, other school personnel and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action which will meet the health and safety needs of students.

Organize group presentations on specific strategies or techniques to assist the educational team and parent(s)/guardians in the successful management of their child.

Collaborate/consult with members of the educational team regarding learning or behavioral concerns about students.  Assist the teacher in establishing behavioral management programs and/or classroom modifications to accommodate the learning needs of their students.

Additional Duties:
Consultation, Evaluation, Intervention, Prevention, Individual Student Program Development, Advocacy and the development of Behavior Intervention Plans.

Substitute Teacher for K-12 suburban school district.

May be considered for preferred building sub positions if you are available Monday through Friday  for the 23-24 school year ($150/day).
