Health Teacher - Probationary

The West Seneca Central School District has an anticipated vacancy for a secondary Health Education Teacher who is passionate about promoting wellness and equipping students with the knowledge and skills they need to make informed, healthy life choices. The ideal candidate is a student-centered educator who values collaboration, embraces innovation, and demonstrates a deep understanding of the New York State Learning Standards for Health Education.

The position is a full-time, probationary appointment with salary and benefits paid according to the West Seneca Teachers’ Association’s collective bargaining agreement and commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Design and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction that promotes the physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being of all students.  
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment where students feel comfortable exploring sensitive topics related to health and wellness.
  • Differentiate instruction to support the diverse learning needs, backgrounds, and experiences of students.
  • Integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies and promote self-awareness, responsible decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
  • Leverage digital tools and instructional technology to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff to reinforce healthy behaviors and a culture of wellness school-wide.
  • Stay current with health education best practices, research, and emerging trends.
  • Participate in curriculum planning, school-wide initiatives, and professional development.
  • Support extracurricular wellness programs, clubs, or student-led initiatives that promote healthy lifestyles.
